What Are Your New Year's Resolutions?
Thursday, December 29, 2005
I don’t know about you, but I usually start a new year without the proverbial list of resolutions. With 2006 just days away, I find myself pondering a potential list.
I have two categories. The first, and more important group focuses on turning over management of My Inn to its rightful owner:
- Pray consistently, faithfully, mindfully. Thanks to John Piper, I now have a prayer plan.
- Read the entire Bible at least once over the course of the year. I thought about a 90-day plan, but I don’t think that will work for me.
- Gain a good working knowledge of the Bible and Christian theology. I know far too little about a lot, and it’s high time I move from milk to meat.
- Be a better steward of my money. Whenever I take a good look at my finances, I’m always embarrassed and appalled at how little I give back to God. It’s all His anyway.
- Be a better steward of my time. I know I could do far more for Christ if I followed a better schedule. Like money, my time is really all His anyway.
My other items go to the age-old health improvement category:
- Eat a good diet.
- Excercise regularly.
- Ride a century. (That’s a one-day, 100-mile bicycle ride.) I found reaching 25-30 miles pretty easy, but my brick wall is at around 35.
OK, there’s my list. What items are on your list and why?
