Is There Room in Your Inn?
Today I happened to catch Love Worth Finding’s production of The Singing Christmas Tree. Toward the end, the hotel owner came to realize how he had spent his life serving his own interests, with no room for Christ in his life.
And then it suddenly struck me.
Even as a Christian I still, way more often than not, live as though there is no room for Him in The Inn of my heart. Worse, sometimes I wonder if I even leave room for Him in the Manger.
Just as Christmas is the season to celebrate His humble birth, it is also a time for me to humble myself.
As 2005 comes to a close, with a new year fast-approaching, it’s high time for a New Year’s resolution. No, not to make sure there is room for Him in The Inn. Rather, to ask Him to change my heart, and give me the true desire and will to turn over management of The Inn to its rightful owner. Him.
Amen.
