Open My Eyes That I May See
We all know regular Bible reading is part of the Christian life. And we all have times where so much as opening the book can be difficult, let alone understanding scriptures within. I’ve been struggling with this for what seems like ages.
This morning I made a yet another determined effort to plough through in spite of my difficulty. And then it occurred to me reading might be easier if I asked for help. Why I didn’t think of this before? I’m not always the brightest bulb.
Before I knew it, Open My Eyes That I May See started going through my mind. I don’t know many of the words, but a quick visit to The Cyber Hymnal helped with that. Not too surprisingly, the scripture scrolling across the top of the page is Open my eyes that I may see the wondrous things in Your law. (Psalm 119:18 NIV).
I left the MIDI music playing while opened up the online ESV and started reading. What do you know, not so much of a struggle. At times even easy. And I saw things I had never seen before.
By the the end of my reading, I had a few passages I wanted to compare with other versions. So, I opened another browser tab for the Bible Gateway, where I was pleasantly surprised by the verse of the day. (Hint: It’s in Psalms.)
Thank you again, God!
