Thank You, Veterans

I have to admit that until this week I had no idea today would be Veterans’ Day. Perhaps even worse, when I found out I’d have the day off, that’s all I thought of it, that I’d get a three-day weekend. Woohoo!

Last night I came to my senses.

Veterans, I know you don’t hear it nearly often enough: Thank you. Thank you for putting your life on hold, perhaps risking life and limb, so the rest of us wouldn’t have to. Some of you, perhaps unknowingly, even opened the doors for people in foreign lands to read the Bible without fear of jail. Or worse. Thank you.

As for the rest of us, we have three tasks to do today:

  1. Say a prayer of thanks for our veterans. Right now is a good time.
  2. Thank a veteran personally. Thank the vet’s family, too.
  3. Read this article and this article about Christian chaplains being ordered not to pray in Jesus’ name. Consider adding your name to the petition.
